I am so pleased we converted to natural gas - I especially love my on-demand hot water. Now I no longer cringe over long showers. I have endless hot water and I'm NOT paying to store something I'm not using. Natural gas has left me, and my pocketbook, feeling great about the decision to change over.

We recently completed a major renovation of the lower level of our Tower Road campus, which included the construction of a performing arts studio, a thorough renovation and modernization of our washrooms, and the installation of energy efficient natural gas boilers. Not only will we realize significant energy savings, the physical space gained by the installation of our compact boilers allowed us to better use existing space for our new studio.

As the owners and managers of a 20,000 square foot office building in downtown Halifax, we were delighted for several reasons when we were able to convert to natural gas. First of all, the risk and liability of onsite oil storage tanks is no more; the lower emissions of greenhouse gases mean we are doing our part for the environment; the benefit of not pre-purchasing fuel helps our cash flow and last, but not least, the cost savings to us and our tenants. Due to the age and inefficiencies of our heating boiler the savings that we received were even better than projected. The conversion for us was a no brainer and I see no reason for people who have gas available not to convert, it adds value to their property!

One of the main reasons we chose to build our home in Russell Lake West three years ago was to be able to use natural gas. We know it is sought after by persons moving here from the West and thus is a major resale benefit.
We maximized our usage with a high efficiency furnace (no heat pump), hot water, stove, dryer (the clothes are always dry!), fireplace and BBQ. Unfortunately, our air conditioning is electric. Our home is a 3,500 square foot bungalow and we maintain the temperature between 19-21C (night/day). The heat is very comfortable and the air is clean.
The very best news is that our Heritage Gas bill for 12 months last year totaled approximately $1,300!! We are very happy with our system and would not even consider returning to using oil!

Trade Centre Limited
Trade Centre Limited has been very pleased with our conversion to natural gas. Our estimated annual savings are approximately $100,000 and we have reduced our greenhouse gas emissions by over 30%. In addition to the significant operational cost-savings; we are very pleased that our conversion to natural gas is having a significant positive impact on the air quality of HRM and the environment.

We have saved $300,000 a year by converting from oil to natural gas; a savings of about 33% over bunker oil, and an additional $100,000 per year or a 12% savings because of the increased efficiency from natural gas burning so much cleaner. Aligned with Saint Mary’s University’s Sustainability Strategy, switching to natural gas has also contributed to a significant reduction in greenhouse gas emissions reducing our carbon footprint in comparison to burning oil by 33%.

We are extremely pleased with our natural gas furnace – clean, no smells and no reason to turn off the furnace and put on the electric heat. And we are experiencing very even heat throughout our home…so, many thanks!

I have recently switched two houses (three furnaces) over to natural gas from oil. I have applied for a third. I would strongly recommend this decision, due to several factors. Price is definitely a top priority, no oil tanks (spills) to worry about, and definitely a lot less maintenance. I also have had great experience in dealing with representatives of Heritage Gas, not only in person, but in phone conversations. They all went out of their way to help.

Our 30 year old furnace was in need of replacement. We hoped the new system would be environmentally friendly, trouble-free, eliminate both the potential for an oil spill and the need for a new oil tank every 10 years, be cost-effective and supply all our requirements for hot water.
The conversion was carried out with little impact on the household over two days in late November 2008 and was trouble-free. Natural gas costs have so far been lower and, in addition to all the above stated requirements, the conversion has provided considerable costs savings. An unforeseen benefit has been the quiet operation of the gas furnace and the smaller space required as it is attached to the wall of the furnace room.
In addition, we installed a gas fireplace and gas-fired clothes dryer and both have met our expectations.

Our experience has been fantastic, we switched from oil last year and our savings have been incredible. The heat throughout our facility has been far more consistent with natural gas. I would recommend natural gas to anyone!

We have had natural gas in our home for about four years and use it for heat and hot water. Our experience has been wonderful and based on that we would not want to use any other type of energy as the primary heating source. Natural gas is cleaner and much less expensive than oil. Having had such a positive experience with natural gas as an energy source in our home, we are now considering replacing our traditional wood fireplace with a natural gas fireplace.
We also own nine rental properties (18 units), and converted all of them to natural gas for heating. As a result, we have experienced a reduced insurance rate for the properties – just another benefit that we discovered with natural gas!

It is with great pleasure that I write to support you in your endeavours. Our dealings with Heritage Gas have been timely, efficient, professional and cost effective. Your field representatives have been nothing less than outstanding to deal with.
From an operational stand point, we have switched two of our locations to natural gas, the Split Crow Pub, and Ryan Duffy's Steak and Seafood. When available, we will definitely switch the others. The Split Crow was previously electric and has enjoyed being able to produce not only a better product, but been able to produce it faster which ultimately turns tables faster and increases our bottom line. The cost benefit at the Split Crow has been immense to say the least. Ryan Duffy's, which was propane before, has seen an improvement in cost over propane, and has enjoyed the seamless supply of gas, never being worried about a delayed delivery for any reason that may occur with a product that relies on trucks for supply.
The installation of the gas was cost effective with helpful rebates and virtually seamless with the high standards and professional manner that the Heritage staff seems to have.
We have had nothing but great comments from our team at Landmark Hospitality Group.
From my team to yours, Thank-you

We became some of your first customers in Dartmouth, and ever since the early beginnings of talks and information gathering we have been impressed and so glad that we made the decision to convert to gas.
We are very concerned for the environment and feel that we are doing some small part to help with what is happening in terms of global warming by using energy efficient natural gas.
We have found the house itself and the air cleaner in our home over the past several years of use. The value of our addition of fireplace and barbecue to natural gas can not be measured as they are both in constant use all year long. No more treks with the tanks to the local propane supply!! Yay!! There is nothing cosier when you arise at 5:00 AM than the immediate warming flames of the fireplace. We also know we are prepared with heat for another Juan!!
In the past year we added the dryer, and the efficiency, drying rate and cost effectiveness are only positive.
Service from Heritage Gas has been prompt, knowledgeable, friendly and sincere from our very first enthusiastic and positive discussions at the kitchen table in our home!! We have also been very pleased over the past few years when asked to share our experiences with Heritage Gas with friends and neighbours and to promote the use of this product.
Thanks to all of you for providing the service and care that you do.
Metro Mitsubishi & Metro Suzuki
Hands down it's Heritage Gas! The reliability, safety, convenience and big cost savings, were all factors in retrofitting Metro Mitsubishi and "purpose building" the new Metro Suzuki dealership to run on environmentally friendly natural gas.
We are absolutely delighted with our decision, not to mention your quality service!

Our house on Rupert Street in Amherst was one of the first on this street to be connected to natural gas. I was familiar with the product and its benefits as we lived in Alberta for 25 years. When I heard natural gas was coming to our town, I talked to my neighbours of its benefits as a cleaner, greener source of fuel. As a result, several of my neighbours signed on and our street was one of the first to be connected.
We in the neighbourhood are very pleased with the excellent service you supply.

Just a note to let you know how we feel about natural gas.
Our experience has been wonderful, we have saved a considerable amount of money. We had switched two houses over to natural gas and the second house has the stove, dryer, heat and BBQ hooked up and our bill is still lower than our oil costs were. We especially like that Heritage has gone to a budget system and we have noticed that nothing has changed over the past two years, our budget has covered the cost of gas!!! We feel very lucky to have it in our area.

Ivan and Betty are cooking with gas and they love it
Hi Folks, we are “cooking with gas” on our new gas range and loving it! The fireplace is great. We love the convenience of just clicking a button to turn it on. There’s no labor or mess to clean up. Our house seems warmer and heats up quickly when we turn up the heat. And…it takes less time to dry clothes in our new gas dryer! We are thrilled to be hooked up with Heritage Gas and are talking to other people to try to get them interested in gas.
Thanks!

Cumberland Honda
Representatives from Heritage Gas are busy in Amherst preparing for the exciting project of constructing a natural gas pipeline system in the community. Members of the Construction and Operations team are meeting with various business owners, along with the business’ contractor to determine the best possible meter location for the facility.
Cumberland Honda owner and president Rob MacDonald, was one of the first customers to sign up for natural gas service in Amherst and is excited to see this project moving forward. “It has been a year-and-a-half wait, but it’s worth it,” says MacDonald. Working together to bring Cumberland Honda the benefits of natural gas are Matthew Sears and Scott Grant of Heritage Gas, Rob MacDonald of Cumberland Honda and Tim Hatcher from Halifax Heating & Air Conditioning.
Miller Tire Says… “Natural Gas Is Great!”
Miller Tire, located on Gloria McCluskey Avenue in Burnside Industrial Park, converted their facilities from propane to natural gas in December of 2004, and already they are enjoying the benefits!
Miller Tire is in the business of retreading tires and has two different uses for natural gas. The first natural gas boiler in the building generates heat for the in-floor heating system while a second natural gas boiler is used for tire production in the facility.
Brian Miller of Miller Tire is already counting the savings compared to propane: “We recently converted to natural gas and the first 2 months’ bills have shown a significant cost saving.”
Brian also appreciates that natural gas is a clean, environmentally-friendly fuel: “We are seeing the evidence of natural gas being a cleaner burning fuel. Since the conversion we have noticed the messy soot surrounding the equipment has been eliminated. We also foresee a reduction in our maintenance requirements.”
Brian says that converting to natural gas went smoothly: “The conversion to natural gas was a positive experience. Frank MacIsaac, a Sales Representative from Heritage Gas was extremely knowledgeable and friendly. Carmichael Engineering converted our existing propane equipment to natural gas in a professional manner and ensured the conversion was seamless to the operation of our business.”
Miller Tire signed up for natural gas in June 2004 and the Heritage Gas system was expanded to the Gloria McCluskey Avenue Location in September of 2004. Natural gas is now available to all businesses in the area.
Jane and Lee Ritchie of Crichton Park...
...are happy to have their oils tanks gone forever. “I like our new natural gas boiler. It’s so quiet! The new boiler is much more efficient and trouble free. We were concerned about an oil leak and the resulting costs and inconvenience of digging up our yard. We also like the idea of never having to replace the oil tank again."
Roode and Rose Plumbing and Heating Specialists Ltd. installed a new furnace for the Ritchies, as well as a line for a natural gas BBQ. Jane is looking forward to being able to BBQ without ever running out of gas.
Atlantic Compressed Air Limited
Atlantic Compressed Air Limited specializes in compressors and compressed air distribution systems, serving the Maritimes since 1973 from Dartmouth, Nova Scotia and Moncton, New Brunswick. The Dartmouth operation was converted recently from propane to natural gas. Operations Manager of the Dartmouth branch, Robb French, had this to say about it:
“Basically, our Moncton operation has had it for two years and they saw quite a bit of savings. Since converting, I’ve noticed that in two months I’ve already saved about 40% from what I paid last year for propane. We’ll probably get our payback in our first year.”
“I’m noticing that natural gas is heating the back shop a lot easier, plus I’m never going to run out of fuel like I have in the past. We ran out of propane once or twice a year.”
